Good Hair Gone Bad: Christopher Williams

GOOD HAIR: Back when lightskinned brothers were all the rage, say 1989-1992, Christopher Williams was on top of the world. I’m sure that the success of the song “I’m Dreamin'” from the New Jack City Soundtrack tasted twice as good to Williams considering he had a role in the movie as well. As the nephew of Ella Fitzgerald and cousin of Al B. Sure, he was a big part of the “New Jack Swing” R&B movement and poised to become black music royalty. Williams dated Halle Berry, which I admit is a cute ‘good hair’ couple, and Stacey Dash (the gorgeous black girl from Clueless), who is his baby’s momma.
GONE: Two albums later he fell off the scene. Lately Williams has been in the has-been hell known as the black stage play and in the movie version of one of them, “Men Cry in The Dark,” as ‘Pretty Tony’ alongside his old friend and fellow Good Hair Gone Bad victim Allen Payne, who was also in New Jack City. In 2001 Williams released his last album, Real Men Do.
BAD: What has his hair become? Is that a PART that I see? Regarding the rumor that Williams beat Halle Berry during the relationship and caused her hearing damage, he says: “I have men come up to me like, ‘How could you just leave Halle Berry?’ I’m like, how could you just leave the last relationship you was in? They would probably crucify JESUS again just to get with her. It’s funny because the stars that get all of the good write-ups, you go and meet them and they are total assholes. She is just a woman, but because her name is in lights, people are damned near ready to bare their souls.” Wow. He also accused old friend Wesley Snipes of being the one who beat Halle upside the head.
