Poll: Fruity Pebbles and the Current State of Hip-Hop
As you may have noticed, I’m always consumed with nostalgia. The other day this 1989 Fruity Pebbles commercial came to my mind (pretty early for mainstream hip-hop efforts, might I add). Maybe you remember it:
Has Hip-Hop been dead all along or is Barney Rubble giving today’s MC a run for his money? It’s actually a bit of a head-scratcher, so I leave it to you:
OMG, this was the JAM when I was in the third grade…we would reenact this commercial during p.e. all the time, and randomly blurt out “i love fruity pebbles in a MAJOR way” with someone echoing fred’s refrain, even if it was in the middle of class. gotta love public school. i think some brave soul even wore barney’s purple pimp-a-licious costume for halloween.
it’s funny that hip-hop barney is purple, too! i wonder if the dino can be sued for infringement…
I can’t believe I actually remember all the lyrics to that commercial! I still love Fruity Pebbles….

Poor poor Hip-hHp, I used to love her…..Maybe I should be saying poor poor Praswell, seeing that folks think Barney can spit that hot fiyah a little better than he can. Hilarious. I’m rather nostalgic myself. Those days were better because at least the rappers were TRYING!
only 23% think barney rubble is as good or better than fifty cent?!? COME ON!
I’m still all tingly over the fact that not one person thinks Barney Rubble is a disgrace as a rapper!
