"What The Eff?" Wednesday Pt II: But…Your Feets?

5 December 2007 16 Comments

As I wrote this week’s Wednesday post I was sure that seeing that moving buttcheek would be the most ridiculous thing I’d see in the next 24 hours, so “What The Eff?” Wednesday material it must be. But then today, while sitting in a meeting pretending to take notes on my laptop but really surfing the web (naturally), I came across this, which actually made me say out loud “Holy Moley!” Everyone turned to look at me,(probably because who even says Holy Moley in this day and age) but it was worth it…just couldn’t hold my gasp in. Apparently backwards feet aren’t all that uncommon and there are more examples at Cabinet of Wonders.

A waitress has refused to be classified as disabled even though she was born with feet that face backwards.

Wang Fang, 27, of Chongqing city in China, was born with her feet facing the wrong way, but has learned to live with her condition without problems and recently refused a disability pension.

She said: “I can run faster than most of my friends and have a regular job as a waitress in the family restaurant. There is no reason to class me as disabled.”

Thembi Says: I don’t really know what to say…if she doesn’t consider herself disabled does that mean I can make fun of her?

I say, good for her. There are folks who don’t work ’cause they have pinched nerves. Gotta admire her resolve.

I don’t know what to say either, so I’m going to let that ride before my conversation turns humorous.
