He’s So Articulate!
Fox News Houston reporter Isiah Carey is a seasoned journalist and my new favorite person. His hilarious and magnificently-colored news report outtakes give much-needed shape to a backhanded compliment that most of us have received before – “articulate.” We can’t talk high siditty 24/7 and even the most “well-spoken” of us speak a second language called Black English. Our ability to switch up our diction in the hottest second is so “black folks” and I love it. These clips provide a nice little primer on things that will bring out our mother tongue so they kind of warm my heart…some not safe for work language.
1. We don’t mess with bugs, and when we use the word “country” we’re usually not referring to music.
2. We can and will go from Harvard to hood in a matter of seconds.
3. We don’t act all sappy about animals, in fact we will cuss them out if need be.
4. We are fully aware that double negatives and improperly conjugated verbs are poor English, but we can code-switch faster than we can even think, so it’s all good (see 0:19 mark).

The first one caught me off guard but, you know how WE do. Harvard to ‘hood in under 2 seconds…that must be a record.
My head is hurting…
This is fantastic. Thembi the linguist!!!
How you gon’ call a dog a loser?
LMAO! Thank you for compiling this collection of footage.
I ❤ Isiah Carey. Is he Mariah’s long lost country cousin?
OMFG You found MORE of him, oh sweet minty GAWD!!… he’s become the wind beneath my wings
you post the funniest stuff. that was hilarious.
This guy KILLS me with his 1-foot in each world code-switch!! All freshman need to watch these videos when they go over double consciousness in their critical race theory courses.
This shit was hillarious!!
Makes you wonder if all Black reporters are like this. Do ya think Angie Mgowan (however you spell her name) from fox news lets her blackness show around her lily white compadres?
He needs his own sitcom.
Friggin’ golden!
So what do you think? Please be respectful to other readers!
