UPDATE: DJ Stylus nailed it with his first guess, so he wins this round. I have to give Reg props for the superfluous guesses featuring people whose names I don’t even know, as always. Mellow Man Ace was one of the original members of Cypress Hill, and is responsible for the first Spanglish hip-hop hit, 1990′s “Mentirosa.”

OMG not only had I never heard that song before, I had never even heard OF it. As a fan of Spanish, a lover of old-school salsa, and an all-around Hispanophile, that made me grin from ear to ear. And samplin’ Willie Bobo’s “Spanish Grease” and Santana’s “Evil Ways.” Go on ‘head. “Mentirosa” was way ahead of its time. Mad respect.
