Don’t Mess With The Southside (of Korea)!
I must have Asia on the brain this week. Between yesterday’s post and a constant hankering for authentic kimchi like I had during my trip to Korea, I just can’t get enough of the Far East these days. Thanks to disagreement over a media regulation bill, South Korea’s parliament session erupted into an all-out brawl yesterday, the likes of which I haven’t seen since last year’s nationally televised Romanian slap-fest. Apparently this happens from time to time, and it’s an approach to government that I can’t believe the U.S. hasn’t tried yet. I’m usually staunchly anti-violence, but for some reason little Asian government officials getting their tussle on makes me giggle (and for some reason think of Pokemon, which I know is actually Japanese. Is that racist?)

I don’t know if it’s racist, but it seems pretty condescending to me. “little”? Comparing them to children’s cartoon characters? “Pokemon”? Why, just cuz they’re Asians?
Hey macon d! I’m mainly being facetious about the racist thing. I didnt say the PEOPLE were Pokemon animals – Pokemon are from Asia and fight each other and that’s moreso why I thought of them immediately…I compare lots of people of all races and sizes to cartoon characters. But South Koreans are just plain smaller than average…when I was in Asia I was always “big” (which is really not the best thing to be when it comes down to it).
This was hilarious. I love the way some were politely pushing others. If OUR government got down to fisticuffs, there would be far more than just some wrinkled lapels. Makes me think of Apu from The Simpsons. “My polite indignation knows no bounds!”
i don’t get it! is this a courtroom? i kinda love the “weak struggle” feel of all the scuffles. doesn’t seem like they’re COMMITTED to kicking eachother’s asses. And yes, that’s racist! LOL
I say good sir, I do not appreciate the way you have manhandled me. Please be so kind as to remove your grip from my neck.
So what do you think? Please be respectful to other readers!
