Kid & Play On The Mo’Nique Show … A Comeback?
Whenever I see Christopher “Kid” Reid on VH-1 or in a random commercial I ask “where is Play?” Play is the one I had a crush on, the one who was *really* cute, and, frankly, more than 50% of the Kid N’ Play equation. Although I missed them on the Mo’Nique show I’d previously heard that Play (Christopher Martin) married and divorced Shari Headley of Coming To America fame, almost died in a car accident, and became a born-again Christian. Whatevas, I just wanna see Blade Brown do that dance and hear some nice clean buddy rap. Thanks to The Mo’Nique Show I’m getting what I want, and they look pretty good too, especially considering this year marks House Party’s TWENTIETH anniversary! Mo’Nique’s show has become an unexpected breaking ground for old school artists to launch their comebacks – SWV also performed recently – and I kind of like it. I still maintain that watching the show feels like going to church at the hair salon while listening to a motivational speaker who used to do stageplays, but I hope she keeps the throwbacks comin’.

They even dug up DJ Wiz somewhere and got him back on the decks.
Are they really rhyming over the vocal version of the tune though?
Is that Daryll “Chill” Mitchell on the set too? He deserves a Thembi post of his own.
I’ll kick it off.

OMG, Play has been eating well.
I actually caught this on my dvr…can I just say that I freaking loved their performance?!!!! It brought back so many memories of the good ol’ days!
I think the years have been more favorable to Play, and he still looks the same pretty much. In the still frame of the vid, he looks huge, but he’s not at all. Bad angle, I guess.
So what do you think? Please be respectful to other readers!

THROWBACK POST!!
Police Sketches of Black Dudes
By Thembi Ford on September 26, 2007
Police sketch artist drawings of black people are notoriously poor and rarely look like anyone in particular. I’m convinced that when asked to describe the suspect, witnesses just describe the last black male they saw, even if they last saw a black male on television. So I did a little Thembi-style experiment by going online and digging up dozens of sketches of black suspects to see just who the strong arm of the law is looking for.
