Just giving you guys a little something to ponder…this ’80’s crooner changed his name and his style, but I’m sure some of you will get this even though he’s rocking the Erykah Badu look in this photo.
UPDATE: All correct. On October 4, 2001 Terence Trent D’arby changed his name to Sananda Maitreya, saying “Terence Trent D’arby [is] dead…he watched his suffering as he died a noble death.” Not one of you were fooled by that sassy turban, so winner of…

No hints…I think this one is pretty easy – this artist is still performing and recording even though he last charted in the 90s. As usual, you win nothing but bragging rights.

Although past efforts to give the winner the chance to be a guest blogger on WWTD have remained unfulfilled – ahem, Malika – that is all I have to give to the first person to correctly guess who this is.
Hint: He was big in the 80’s and no it’s not the black Cryptkeeper. He has seriously gone downhill…
UPDATE: Joy wins! This is, sadly, Billy Ocean, known for hits such as “Caribbean Queen,” “Suddenly,” “Sad Songs,” and my personal favorite sexual assualt-themed song…

Answering with a comment, the first of you who can tell me what disillusioned Negro said this will win a special Thembi Prize. No googling allowed.
“Maybe for 50 years and the history of media and television I represent something that’s supposed to not exist.”"This happened to Malcolm X, this happened to Paul Robeson – this misconception can happen to any man of power that loves himself and wants to spread that love and that humanity throughout the world.”…
