How come nobody told me today was Shakespeare’s birthday? Just because he’d be an impossible 455 years old, I guess. I’ve studied some Shakespeare (mostly by force) but never fully embraced the common perception that his works are hard to understand. No, I didn’t make up that clever play on words. Knitta Please is a “graknitti,” crew and they basically posse out and tag public urban spaces with knitting. All cozies, all the time, and they are not to be reckoned with. I personally prefer yarn to spray paint but I can’t imagine Ramon from Beat Street going out with knitting needles in his hands. The Fleshmap project studied the lyrics of 10,000 songs from eleven different genres to document how often each body part was mentioned. If you look at the graphical representation of the results, one of these things is just not like the others. Before you say that they wasted time proving what we already know, check out the site and the rest of the project – it’s got a lot of really artistic/nerdy/academic components.
