Have you checked out Songza Sets yet? A Set is a collection of 12 songs based on a topic or theme, and I just guest-curated “Babyface Made R&B.” I had a weird sort of “non-sexual, sing-songs-to-me-with-your-ol’-curl-havin’-self” crush on him back in the day so I had a blast! Have a listen and let me know what you think.

Don’t get it twisted – the only criteria for “What The Eff?” Wednesday is that I post something that literally makes you mutter “what the efff?” to yourself. I do it only to be cruel and you know it. That…

Ok, so here’s the thing. Actually three things.
1. I like watching people fight. I won’t make apologies for my fascination with fisticuffs but I’m not proud of it either.
2. I hate when people actually do fight. Seriously, what’s the point? Even my desire to watch a beatdown doesn’t trump the display of one of the saddest aspects of the human condition – some people think that violence is the answer.
Now watch this video.
3. Bearded old man wearing a fanny pack completely whoops the younger man wearing a flannel shirt and

It’s been over a year since the trailer for Buppies premiered here on What Would Thembi Do?, and the web series is finally coming to BET.com.Yes, I did say BET, but hear me out – I had a chance to watch the ten episode series in its entirety and it is equal parts fresh, hilarious, smart, and fun.
Think Beverly Hills 90210 or Gossip Girl meets the story of a crew of affluent twenty-something black socialites living in Hollywood (buppies = black + yuppies, get it?), dealing with the highs and lows of finding one’s place in

Right now I am more overwhelmed with life than ever. I just found out that I’ve been accepted to a graduate writing program at USC (thanks to my work/your support of WWTD, might I add), and my head is spinning daily with unanswered questions about how I’m going to pay for it, how to get there, where to live, how to splash down in LA looking cute, what to do with my car, and how to say goodbye to Philly so I can proceed with this dream. Until I get my feet back on the ground and my head together posting will have to slow a bit because I’d way rather write than deal. But I should get it together soon – I feel really excited and fortunate and just cannot wait for this new chapter in life!

Ive been a blogger for going on two years now and there is one thing I’ve still yet to grasp – how is it that videos become viral on these internets and why? Today I’ve spotted this video through two separate websites and I don’t think either post did the wonder that is La’Domour justice. Resist the temptation to just close your browser and hear me out for a few moments. Can anyone tell me if there’s ever been a more doomed intro to an artists bio, even on Myspace?
La’Domour, aka Myron Thurmond, a native of Detroit Michigan . . .
Why do black folks always have to French-ify names? To make them sound sexy or exotic (or, most likely, like something we have no business messing with)? I hate to break it to Myron but there is no such French word structure as “La’Domour” and as an unjustifiably francophilic black person I am so put out by what seems to be Myron’s misunderstanding that “Domour” means something. So then I mosied on over to BlackPlanet, where I discovered his username is “loveyougood6969.” That made me hit the back button and start reading his bio again:

This photo comes from Brokey McPoverty‘s blog. She is also writing from Philly, which makes me think that my landlord used to mess with a chick named Sheniqua. Yes, he definitely must have.
