Who Am I? Answer

whoami20

It’s a good thing that dopegirlfresh made a guess because if not for her every single person who bothered to comment would have nailed this (although Joy was first). The man to the right is Oran “Juice” Jones, Def Jam’s first platinum R&B artist thanks to his 1986 hit “The Rain.” The guy with the perm in the center is Mookie Jones, Oran’s successful rapper son. Whenever I do  these “Who Am I?” posts you’d think the mystery man would be retired from the industry but…

Who Am I?

Please ignore Baby Huey on the far left and The Perminator in the center. It’s the man on the right who is of interest right now. Who is this 1986 R&B chart-topper?

No hints.

UPDATE: Freestyle music isn’t just for Puerto Ricans. This is Shannon, of “Let The Music Play,” fame, correctly identified by fatblkboy. This one wasn’t too hard I guess, it must have been the mole and the braids. Shannon is still recording and I know everyone loves “Let The Music Play,” but I think I’ve heard that song one too many times. Instead, check out 1984’s “Give Me Tonight.”…

Y’all, this is the most glamorous Glamourshot promo photo I’ve ever seen. Not only does it have more potential for joke-crackin’ than almost any other dead-serious picture I’ve ever posted, but figuring out who this is will not be easy. The hint is that one member went solo and only four of the men pictured here are orginal members.

I’d love to say I chose this unflattering photo to clown her, but her website only has close-up photos of her eyelashes and cheekbones and random stuff like that. As usual, no prizes, just bragging rights. I’ll also give a shout out to anyone who can explain her hair styling choices.

UPDATE: Of course, this is Des’ree, as Lonebull answered like five minutes after I posted her photo. The more intriguing…

It’s Mellow Man Ace!

UPDATE: DJ Stylus nailed it with his first guess, so he wins this round. I have to give Reg props for the superfluous guesses featuring people whose names I don’t even know, as always. Mellow Man Ace was one of the original members of Cypress Hill, and is responsible for the first Spanglish hip-hop hit, 1990’s “Mentirosa.”…

Are y’all sick of me taunting you with these yet? Hint: this is not a black person.
